Benzos mostly just calm the patient down when taken at the correct dose for acute anxiety. Around the ALPRAZOLAM 0.25mg taken as needed (PRN) is fine. In the 0.5-1.0mg range the patient may feel a stronger urge to sleep. Generally better to start at a smaller dose then move up. Can be addictive tho.
