As a writer, I know the feeling. I try to always leave a positive comment on the art I enjoy. Though I know some people don't like people who don't follow them commenting on their posts, so I try to be considerate of that as well.

I saw a few posts about it yesterday here on Bluesky. I'm not sure why either, but I do understand that everyone feels differently so I try to keep that in mind. It does make me second guess before commenting now, haha.

I mean I guess like if someone makes a post that they only want mutuals to respond to? I've seen stuff like that before. I guess worse case scenario is the person just asks people not to comment on posts unless they're followers? Hopefully it would be polite

Right? I guess they could make their account private. Feel like limiting who can speak to you so much is just more unnecessary work to put on yourself, but, it is what it is.

Yes! And it’s really motivating, too. Joining bluesky and seeing there’s a thriving art community rekindled my desire to make art. It just felt so disheartening to make something knowing the algorithm won’t even show it to people. Can’t help but feel that community is a big part of making art.

God yes. That's the thing I crave the most.

Like, even in chats with friends and family I sometimes only receive a thumbs up and ngl, that makes something inside me die a little each time

That happens to me too, and most of the time I don't even get an emoji lol.

I am blessed enough that my husband, MIL, and little sister consistently show support, but other than that, none of the people I know IRL care 🥲
