Tbf to Thanos though, he actually watched his world die because of what he believes to be them not listening to his idea. So it's much more understandable why Thanos got that idea stuck in his head.

Well, since it's a fictional universe, I feel it's less controversial to talk about, that's actually kind of a good question of if his actions would fall under genocide.
Before the stones, I'm kind of leaning towards yes, but after he gets the stones, I'm not 100% sure.

I still wish they'd just brought Cate Blanchett back as Hela Goddess of Death and repurposed the character for Thanos' romantic infatuation with Death, which is the comics characters principle motivation.
