I was a major player in bringing race coverage to the NYT, CNN and WNYC. I led coverage on multiple platforms and I never got the recognized for my success. I sat on panels, worked for free, while others enjoyed the fruits of my labor.

I heard this over and over again in the interviews I did for my book…the growth and then height of the “racial reckoning” asked major media institutions to deal with their own complicity in U.S. racism and it really upset a lot of people who saw themselves as righteous and objective
