A lot of mutual aid funds and minority support groups are nonprofits. Notably Planned Parenthood. Not to mention religious groups. We tend to think of churches, but this can be weaponized against non-Christian groups.
Plus, per usual, the cruelty is very much part of the point.

I believe this is a Trojan horse. Trump will use this to target any nonprofit that funds pro-democracy work. I’m no expert, but my guess is that the government already has the tools to shut down terrorist-supporting nonprofits.
