In an era when governments seek extraordinary measures to compromise privacy, extraordinary countermeasures are required to withstand the attempt. That they are extraordinary does not remove the distinction between standing firm and not.

Not disagreeing it’s a concession but it’s one of apple’s making, in a direct fuck you to the attempted secrecy. Someone else described it as a warrant canary and I think that’s quite fitting.
That's a good point. Assuming legal procedures are followed (and we don't yet have a reason to think otherwise), each request needs legal authorization. It's not like GCHQ or whoever has global read on UK iCloud.
