I'd appreciate it if news orgs made more use of Harry Frankfurt's incredible work On Bullshit in their reporting on politicians. I'm referring to Trump/Republicans, but people on the left are guilty of it too.
Unsubstantiated claims doesn't really capture the intent. They know what they're doing.
