The number pad is all people see when they look at it, but the Jaguar controller works well. It's got a good natural grip with indents for your index fingers on the underside. The D-pad and ABC buttons all work well enough and are in good positions.
I always found the jag d-pad was excellent, and the buttons are in a decent spot and respond well. Ergonomically though, for long sessions (like playing through Raiden a few times) its a bit cramp causing... but what controller isn't
I just played this one game where the controller was not response. That's all the experience I had with it. Given I don't own the console. I would like ot have a good experience with it some day :D
The standard controller should have had the design the pro controller had. Not having shoulder buttons and only having 3 normal buttons was a massive mistake.
Oh, i borrowed a CD 32 from a friend back in the mid to early 90´s. Had a few games but i loved Simon the sorcerer with the fully voiced narrative. Something cool at the time for sure! Controller was a bit funky but it worked.
Great console and a great game. Others to look out for are the Dizzy Big 6, Worms, Arabian Nights, Lost Vikings and Pinball Fantasies... off the top of my head.
Oh I loved this one! A friend had on and I played a clue solving RPG on it, but I forget the name. I remember the graphics were excellent for the time. 🤓
Probably same for me, I've got Lotus Trilogy, Pirates Gold and Alien Breed Tower Assault for it. Really tho, mines hooked up with an expansion card, a CF Card with loads of games pre-loaded on and I just use it like that :D
Yep, having to run my own using S-Video as no-one seems to make a C-Sync Scart for the damn thing. Still, Simon the Sorcerer is quite the standout game for the platform, even if you can't play it.
Its up there with the 3DO, Atari Jaguar, and TurboGraphix16 for “uncommon but surprisingly awesome” consoles…
I knew folks that had one… but never had the luxury of owning one myself..
Congrats!
It has no anti piracy content control so burning ISO on CD-R is easy task. For video output, anything with compostite video input would do. USB capture device f.e.
I didn't really register till years how later how obscure the console was because my mate had one when I was about 6 and we'd play it several times a week.
Commodore were so lazy after the C64. They basically bought Amiga and thought "that's it, nothing more for us to do." And that's why they went bust in 94.
I consider the Amiga 32 to be even more obscure to most than even the 3DO. Surely a less expensive barrier of entry for sure, but both had a very limited software library due to a lack of developer support overall. The early 90s was altogether a great yet very strange time for the gaming industry.

Last year I managed to get a recaped one.
The CD32 and the CDTV both play CDG's karaoke discs.
