Since when is the subtext of "did you like it?" that I want you to please me? I swear they're coming for the most basic, intuitive language so that nothing about parenting feels natural and everyone thinks they need to follow the influencers and buy their courses, and I like Solid Starts generally.

You know how you speak to all other humans in every other aspect of your life? Do NOT do that with children. Instead say things like "What sound did that food make in your mouth?"

Raise kids the Right Way™️ with absolutely alien communication patterns. If it felt natural, you're doing it wrong.

I’ve appreciated her page over the years as a way to learn about all different foods and how to safely serve it to kids. But, our fam also looooves food- cooking, eating etc. so we do talk about what foods are crunchy, salty, sweet, yellow, green…the 3-5 year olds love to see what’s in lunchboxes

YEP. As a high school teacher, I had multiple students get emotional when I told them I was proud of them because their “parents never had.” I get there is nuance here, but I don’t think telling our kids we are proud of them sometimes is gonna be the thing that breaks their brains

When my son was a toddler, he refused to eat salad (tho he would eat leaves out of mud puddles, so... 🤷‍♀️). I wouldn't make a big deal out of it but always put it on his plate. The first time he decided to try, I hissed at everyone not to look, don't say anything!! These people are crazy.

I used to roll my eyes at stuff like this and it feels so dumb saying it at first BUT I regret to inform you… it does work with some kids 🫣 both my parents have intense issues and I find using a neutral supportive approach has helped me (and my kids).
