Ooh I work in affordable housing too and I was super impressed by the AI policy my company just came out with! It was basically “fine you can use AI for menial tasks if your supervisor agrees but absolutely nothing important and putting our data in AI is a fireable offense”

As someone who is looking to get a Masters in AI and ML, the number of people saying that annoys me too. Like yes, AI is an important tool that can make things better and easier for people. But that's just it: it's a tool, not the whole damn toolbox.

Also, I can tell you from personal experience that a lot of people in the AI field, and by people in the field I mean actual researchers and Computer Scientists and Engineers and not techbros, are just as worried about that kind of thinking as everyone else. Problem is the techbros are in charge.

i’d love for ai “artists” (🤮) to generate anything without a stolen training set for the ai to learn from. they think ai is essential to human art, but reality shows the opposite is true. gen ai can’t exist without human art (often stolen).

When I was 16 I did a course with a guy who was retaking the exact same course from failing it the previous year.

Every question asked he would state with absolute confidence an answer.

Never the right answer mind, but he stated it very confidently. 30 weeks of that.
