We have to convince people to reduce their intake for more personal reasons b/c so many don’t believe you when you tie meat to climate change. I’m a vegan in a meat loving family, & just yesterday I told my mom that meat contains no fiber. She didn’t believe me until she googled it.

I've never eaten meat in my 41 years (except an accidental very drunken calamari that I thought was an onion ring!). I'm vegan now though, and have been many years. My mother is 83 and vegetarian since she was 12, vegan since about 8 years ago. Long term vegans seem to look younger in the face.

My initial step towards veganism was stopping red meat for my health. Then I stopped eating chicken (worried about the hormones + animal welfare). Then fish (Hugh Fearnly-Whittenstalls documentary). Then dairy (lactose intolerant + animal welfare). Then finally read Earthling Eds book. That did it

In Ireland no such messaging on dietary change has stood for long - thanks to industry lobbying, even the EPA have backed down. And agriculture's 'independent scientific' body promote meat & dairy consumption.🙄
