We're trying to get one of the crosswalks better marked on the school route. In what should be a safe area for kids to be, drivers tend to fly through the neighbourhood to cut off a few minutes between bigger roads. Good to see more people/kid powered initiatives in the city.

We have the same issues at our school & are trying to implement a school street to help. In the meantime, we do walking & bike buses. Activate YYC (https://activateyyc.calgarycommunities.com/) offers grants & resources for some great projects. Ever Active Schools is another one: https://everactive.org/projects/ast/

So far, we've been the most successful by engaging organization like those two. Changes to crosswalks has been surprisingly difficult (& slow) at our school.

Now we're wrapping up Walk to School Week & preparing for Bike to School Week in May. Council organized both of these, but the CBE is generally supportive of initiatives that encourage active modes of transportation. We've seen a real increase in kids walking & biking to school this week.
