Oh wow. So it’s a hybrid of Ceanothus arboreus and C. thyrsiflorus var. griseus (C. griseus). There are so many cool native plants in California, you must be spoiled for choice on what to plant.
I'm amused that you described Salvia leucophylla as "alien." I might use that description sometime. Also, another pitchersage enjoyer! How would you describe its fragrance?
hm I’m not great at describing smells but I love it! This particular cultivar is native to the Channel Islands and considered endangered so I’m especially pleased that it’s doing so well.
