3. The experiences of disabled people with technology are often told by those outside the community and filtered to better fit popular narratives leading to solutions that aren’t needed or undesired.

4. Disability is viewed monolithically not as intersectional which leads to incomplete solutions.

I know there are a lot of people in the accessibility field that aren't fans of large organizations and corporations. When I have presented this. I have gotten a few comments on how I can reconcile what I do with what I have presented. I certainly understand why I get this push back

The fact is that corporations make products and those products need to be accessible. Unfortunately inaccessible products can be used as reasons to not hire people with disabilities, degrade the quality of life of disabled people due to required use, etc.

Do we send hopes and prayers that companies do the right thing without anyone dedicated within at least trying to push back? Especially if there are no real financial or PR consequences like customers choosing accessible alternative products (as many times there aren't any)?

Something i think we need to engage with is the ways in which the system is Working As Intended, and belies the official story of what capitalism prioritizes. There are so many disabled folks, companies *could* make a lot more money with accessible products; so gotta ask why don't they

One issue is that there is a side of the disability debate including amongst disability advocates that is simply anti technology. This is sometimes based it legitimate comcerns such as discrimination but often ironically helps justify companies not making accessible versions too

Sadly i think 3 is often used self fuffillly to justify removing accesibility even by disability advocates themselves. This is especially problematic as it often means disabled peoples desires for a accessible option may be left unheard precisely because people think it will harm them
