High level FG players are predicting the future. Their timing has to be so precise they need to perform inputs faster than their eyes can tell their brain to tell their hands to move.

Intuition takes over at some point, which means training and experience can compensate for reaction time.

I’ve started worrying about my reaction times now that I’m getting close to 25, and what I’ve come to realize is that if you’re staying physically and mentally fit and healthy, the margins you’re actually losing are tiny and you shouldn’t worry unless you’re literally against the best of the best.

There's a difference between doing a frame perfect input in the middle of an animation that serves as a telegraph and raw reaction times, as well as the ability to look at something and visually parse it. It's not an excuse, but these things are not comparable.

Getting into FGs after playing league for almost 2 years was honestly a very pleasant change, the community is way less toxic (at least in GG and SF i feel like) and the general audience seems more mature? Compared to lol where most players seem to be under 25 there are tons of older people.

I think the difference isn’t the reaction timing so much as the “grind” to stay at that top form. Burnout is probably easier tbh. Hell guys like Faker dominate despite being e sports old because he still has the ability to play constantly as long as his health is ok.
