In 1974, a Calvin Klien independent designer, Brenda Wilcox, introduced the design to the company. She came up with the idea of placing sewn on pockets on women's jeans, to make the design more sleek and more fashionable.

Ah yes, the extremely helpful presence of a pocket that isn't actually there. I've never understood that, a lot of guys clothes or jackets specifically seem to have that just to have the appearance of more pockets? HUH?

Earlier this year she picked a pair of shorts that had fake side pockets and real back pockets, but didn't realize it until we got home...she was livid. I told her it was the patriarchy's fault 🤣
Not gonna lie, as a parent young kids I'm okay with it. It prevents them from coming home with pockets overflowing with dirt, rocks, acorns, twigs, and whatever else they deem necessary to shove in them 😆
I don't know!😭 It's 1 thing to not have pockets at all on an article of clothing but it's a whole other level of madness when they put a slit or flap as if there is a pocket, only for there it to NOT BE THERE. WHY 😭

I recently found a jacket with pockets that were like 90% sewn shut. Like you can stick a finger in it, and that's it. WHY. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE.
The maddening one is when there's just a pocket flap on a jacket but no pocket. WHY?????????????
