Turns out that the founding fathers didn’t think of writing into the Constitution that a felon could not be president. They didn’t think that future generations could ever be such complete morons and elect one.

That's gov, local & up.
The 2 parties 100% control the process.
$/accessibility/media is allowed ONLY to those who will 100% tow party lines, raise SuperPAC money, shill, etc.. THEY get into primaries *NOT* the most qualified people who could actually HELP.
More than 1/2 of the founding "fathers" owned slaves. Having had written #Constitution just 4 WHITE men, they didn't have the concept of "felony" among the elites - who could hold the Presidency. Is as simple as that.
Why there are so many "amendments"? Afterthoughts
The way I see it, the problem is SCOTUS
It paved the way for the felon to obstruct and delay justice, prosecutions, sentencing and then gave him the green light to continue committing crimes by giving immunity as president to run the country like a mob boss with complete impunity.
Rape, pedo-rape, treason, sedition, stealing from kids, not paying workers, embezzling, working w/enemies for profit, destroying the economy, attacking our allies, draft dodging, mocking the military, pathological liar,..
The founding fathers wouldn't have let him live let alone run for office.
Agree, but MAGATs “adore” that about him. D more criminal & filthier d better. Is like they want 2 prove some point 2 their own detriment (& ours). They rather stick with d useless POS than admit his depravity. Is like they’re PROUD of their support. It boggles the mind
That and their denial (real or imagined) is unparalleled.
In most cases they're highly religious so,.. ZERO cognitive shift from an entire lifetime of just believing whatever people tell you w/out ANY basis in reality and rabidly denying any opposing facts or viewpoints that don't enforce your own.
They could have put a tiny section in The Constitution about not letting anybody vote who was so stupid they would vote for a pedo-rapist, traitor, draft dodging, criminal con-man...
In a world where news (and most things) traveled at horse speed and they had just got done freeing themselves from England’s heavy handed rule, there were many things that were inconceivable. Electing an idiot criminal with aspirations to be an emperor was one of those.
There's no reason felons shouldn't be allowed to run for president, or to serve if elected. Malcolm X was a felon. Eugene Debts was a felon and ran for president while in prison. It's just that Donald Trump gives felons a bad name.
Yeah, a general "no felons" rule would be instantly weaponized by certain States to disqualify opposition.
Ex: "You provided material support to a woman who eventually got an abortion, which is a felony in the state, so you can't run for office on your platform of legalizing abortion again."
How's that possible? A person in jail for weed etc. can't get a job . Experience? .makes no sense how you only need 3 things to be president. Research it. Ridiculous. No more federal funding for them. That's for all of us.
Your run of the mill felon would be fine. (On the assumption that committing one felony makes one a felon.) Trump (a rapist and insurrection-inciter) on the other hand is another matter.
If they did, the Reagan Administration would have found a way to ensure that every prominent Democrat was a felon. It's not hard to see why that's not a thing...
It will take a good constitutional lawyer to argue in court that the Felon is disqualified from serving as POTUS because it was the intent of the framers to exclude Felons from serving as POTUS
this is a planned thing.
the reason you don't want to say felons can't hold office is that it offers a tool to further disenfranchise people from holding office, particularly opposition jailed for things like censorship.

The 2 party system is ANTI "The people".
We also have the 25th
The Constitution is a work of genius
We just surrendered our checks & balances
They knew they were flawed but the hope was that those willing to serve 'The People' would make it even better.
They did but only as a vehicle to keep MOST of the gov corrupt.

An oppressive government can make people felons pretty easily.

But things like "putting a pedo-rapist, traitor, draft dodging, criminal con-man in charge" were so impossible to consider, they didn't call it out.

It doesn't say either that buying gun powder or magazine is a right either but the SCOTUS says it is
So it's the same w/ a Felon being disqualified to serve as POTUS
That they didn't put it in writing doesn't mean that it was their intention to allow it & it's just like free speech right that isn't absolute
The SCOTUS ruling is irrelevant
Trump is not actually the President right now.
Once this shit show is over ... hopefully sooner rather than later, we NEED to change that.
