I did the reverse of this a few years ago to pick a PL team to follow. I’m a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan… I started following Newcastle a few years ago because they felt like the Cleveland-est PL club. I think it’s true. You Toon fans are my people. Your scarring runs deep. 😂

My team, the Chicago Bears. Both are historically good, but in recent times bad. Difference between the two is Da Bears are suffering under an Ashley type owner (Even though the owners have never sold the team/its ran by inept grandkids)/NUFC are figuring it out. Both have GOAT former players too

I’m biased, but I always see Chicago as a big Newcastle now. Working city, hard economic periods, isolated regionally from other huge citiesbig us against everyone else mentality. And the ‘derby’ up the road (packers) is very spicy. Owners are garbage but there is talk of a sale sothere is that👍🤣

In one sense the Commanders. They have a history but have been perennial underachievers. Had a dreadful owner who killed the franchise for many years and now have some hope under a new operation. Pittsburgh the town is much more like Newcastle though- gritty industrial with a proud history.

I’ve been following the Bills for a while, just because my sis-in-law is a massive fan. Their fans are definitely a class bunch. Bit nuts, never take themselves to seriously, and apparently do the best tailgates
