Society doesn't remember nazism/fascism these days. Most of those who lived then are gone. Their stories almost seem like a fairy tale today for those who haven't grabbed a book or watched a documentary. However, most people in USA that lived through the Cold War are still alive and misremember it.

I'm more a post-WWII settlement mixed economy Keynes/MMT type with human rights and equality bolt-ons. Not exactly a raging "lefty" but the establishment have shifted so far right they're over the horizon.
