Utter the single word “Wetherspoon,” or even the colloquial “Spoons” to a Brit, and they’ll know what you mean. Some will grimace. Some will groan. Others will excitedly rub their hands together like you’d just cooked their favorite meal.

CNN showing the rest of the world what investigative journalism looks like. First, we were told about the McRib and now spoons. Way to work towards saving democracy CNN. P.S. Grow a pair and do your job no matter what your legal department says. 🙄
Full English breakfast to cure the hangover caused by the excesses of drinking cheap beer - its a British institution 🤣🤣 With the added bonus of instant entertainment when the aforementioned cheap beer takes its toll on the local youth that frequent these bars 🤣🤣🤣
What's not to love? I appreciate their great beer, good food, pleasant atmosphere and friendly service at fantastic prices. I'd love to have something like this in Canada.
Well you should do, the owner of spoons is Tim Martin, and he's a complete ass who pushed the country to vote for Brexit, and treated his staff like s*** during the covid lockdowns......... I wouldn't drink in there if it was the last pub in the world
sounds like every big American pub/sports bar tbf. Microwave the food, clean the lines maybe once a quarter, treat your low-wage employees like shit. Rinse and repeat, opening thousands of locations along the way.
Yeah, your typical witherspoons is full of day drinkers, who don't go home at night, permadrunks as I like to call them!
The food isn't bad though, from what I remember it's quite cheap and not bad, almost like home cooked meals (British food isn't as bad as most people think it is by the way lol)
I clearly remember the owner's appaling stance towards his employees during the pandemic quarantine period.
Many of us decided not to visit any of his pubs ever again.
It's from a show called Martin. Martin was trying to figure out a concept for a restaurant and his friend Cole kept suggesting a concept called Rent-Em-Spoons where the soup was free but you rented the spoon to eat it.
I know my son is at uni too. He’s always going there. Townie pubs are too expensive. I know Tim Martin supports Brexit but I can see why some have no choice
If they want to go out.
In the early to mid 2000s 'Spoons used to call their Beer and burger meal the "Sorry Ronnie" meal. That's because they used to charge you less than a McDonalds extra value meal for a Burger, Fries and pint of beer (or soft drink) of your choice.

His crime? offering the manager a line of coke
His reasoning? It was his birthday
He genuinely didn't understand what he had done wrong, as it was his birthday, so he should be allowed to do coke.
A cheaper version of Appleby's or Chiplote.
Applebee’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, take your pick.

The place where they water down the Coke and load your glasses with ice!
If they want to go out.
