ESPN and Major League Baseball mutually agreed to part ways and end their decades-long partnership after the 2025 season, the league announced, a little less than a month before the start of the season.

MLB only cares about billion dollar streaming serbice bidding wars. Fans don't pay the bills except as subscribers but that's on the streamers...the owners get their cash anyway. You can't even listen to games on the radio anymore..or watch games in your market without a pricey subscription package
MLB is screwing itself… baseball is regional and fans are not paying for streaming… hockey local broadcast are going to traditional over the air free tv to increase views…baseball has big issues
What exactly does this mean? I’ve never watched any MLB games on ESPN; usually it’s either my local regional sports network or I steam from an MLB account. Does seem like this is newsworthy.
Well for baseball, they only played Red Sox and Yankees games, and maybe Phillies here and there. Now, if MLB with let me watch my teams games on https://MLB.tv, that would be great! Um..k
this would be very sad except for the fact donald trump is taking over the entire united states postal service (https://bsky.app/profile/washingtonpost.com/post/3linklas4wk2w) and the world is coming apart at the seams, we are heading into economic depression, mass incarceration, famine, and death. sad about the baseball on cable tho
This is a surprising turn of events. With such a long partnership, it feels like the end of an era. I wonder how this will change the landscape of sports broadcasting. Any predictions on who might step up next?
Access to MLB games will now be regulated through the new Presidential Office of Field Sports and will only broadcast games of Republican teams. The President has now been voted in as chair of the committee. As his first change, all baseballs will now be made from oil products.
Can we also go back to those juiced balls everyone was hitting out of the park? P.S. please televise on local channels, with GOP authorized commercials, of course
