A new drone service is delivering supplies such as ladders and oxygen cylinders on Mount Everest, making it safer for Sherpas and cutting the time it takes to get supplies up the mountain – as well as bringing trash down. https://cnn.it/3Y8BaSA

Imagine having your job replaced by a drone. This could spark a Luddite rebellion against mechanization. Seriously though, Sherpas sometimes lose their lives for wealthy persons' vainglory. I'd like to hear from Sherpas about it. The closest I get to Everest is my sherpa feet socks which I love.
By "trash" they mean climber corpses. The place is littered with them, along with mountains of other rubbish. Everest climber camps are the filthiest places on earth. Sherpers and others have long complained about this.
This is cool. But that like that stud woman who has climbed the Seven Summits said, "The mountain is still the mountain. The challenge is still real.”
But getting stuff on and off the mountain is going to save lives.
(Didn't look at the comments. There ARE some saying 'anyone can do it,' right?)
How about limit the amount of people who can go up there? It’s become trash & pollution mountain. Pathetic. How about we focus our efforts on the environment? Not funneling more shit up the mountain.
This is a terrible idea. At this point in history, Mount Everest is our only viable way to remove wealthy, narcissistic parasites from the human species. We’ve spent decades convincing rich assholes that they should climb those deadly slopes, and now some drone company is going to ruin it. 😩
If the drone requires humans to actually pick up and load the drone with the garbage for disposal, I have little hope that drones will actually be used for that. People are not reliable that way.
Ok, guilty of jumping on them from the lead in paragraph — Sorry. It’s hard to understand when it’s now a full blown industry with now an enormously bad environmental impact. Yay you folks for thinking about it.
Isreal doesn't control the airspace over Tibet or Nepal. They would shoot down drones giving supplies to Gaza, and call the people sending the supplies Hamas supporters.
This drone initiative sounds like a game changer! Reducing risks for Sherpas and keeping Everest clean is a win-win. I can only imagine the views from those flying drones—just the perfect backdrop for a mountain delivery service!
Maybe someone can then use same drones to begin cleaning up the littered mountain of discarded oxygen bottles and abandoned gear while they are up there.
Helicopters can reach Mt Everest.
In May 2005, French pilot Didier Delsalle landed on the top of the mountain in a Eurocopter AS 350 B3. Delsalle's historic landing on Everest's summit went down as the highest helicopter landing ever recorded.

Educate yourself.
As long as you know you wouldn't even come close to handling the approach. And that's the truth.
Just like the freeze dried turds & bodies
