Days before masked ICE agents detained Tufts student Rumeysa Ozturk to deport her, Dept determined that the admin had not produced any evidence showing she engaged in antisemitic activities or made public statements supporting a terrorist organization www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

initial reports made this sound like a minor failed attempt

Marco Rubio just announced 10 more people were sent to be imprisoned in CECOT. They were flown there from Gitmo to be imprisoned potentially for life based not on any crime for which they were convicted, but on unproven allegations of gang membership with no due process. This is not lawful.

Gov. Shapiro says he and his family "woke up to bangs on the door from the Pennsylvania State Police" early Sunday morning. The fire caused significant damage, but fortunately, no one was injured.

NEW: A second filing today from the DOJ tells Judge Xinis that in their view, since Mr. Abrego is in Bukele's custody, she can't order them to do anything further to bring him back since that's not what "facilitate" means. They also say the deal with Bukele is classified and/or a state secret.

25 minutes away from when the DOJ is supposed to file their second daily status report on Mr. Abrego. Yesterday they seemingly refused to provide information on the steps they've taken previously and plan to take in the future to "facilitate his return." Let's see if they refuse again today.

NEW: DOJ doubles down on refusing to follow Judge Xinis's orders. Today's status report contains nothing new. It again fails to provide information about steps they're taking to bring Mr. Abrego back), and arguably violates her command that a declaration be made by someone with personal knowledge.

Everything is a conspiracy when you have no idea how anything works. The research on foreign animal diseases was widely known. www.newsday.com/news/health/...

Astonishing RFK Jr interview with NBC. At 23.30 he claims pharmaceuticals are the 3rd leading cause of death in the US [wtf]. He discloses the name & medical history of the 2nd child to die of measles, implies she wasn't healthy & argues about her cause of death. @gorskon.bsky.social

The U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services has repeatedly claimed: “If you’re healthy, it’s almost impossible to die from an infectious disease in modern times.” That is dangerously false. www.medscape.com/viewarticle/...

A Russian missile attack on the Ukrainian city of Sumy killed 31 people and injured dozens more on Sunday, Ukraine’s emergency service said. The attack occurred on Palm Sunday, when many families flock to church for Mass to mark the beginning of Holy Week ahead of Easter.

“The reporter from MyPillow asked the White House press secretary why the president looks so healthy and robust” is a true sentence that exists in our current reality.

Not a single word in this paragraph surprises me.

This is what its like to work in the Trump administration now. When a career official objected to declaring that living immigrants were dead on legal and ethical grounds, security guards went to his office and told him to leave. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

It would appear CNN was also at the eugenics conference? Why are all these mainstream news orgs at a 200-person event where all the speakers are eugenicists and racists? www.cnn.com/2025/04/11/u...

A military judge on Friday threw out the confession that a man accused of conspiring in the Sept. 11 attacks made to federal agents in 2007 at Guantánamo Bay, ruling the statements were the product of a campaign of torture and isolation carried out by the CIA.

I’m not kidding; this is DOGE at work; multiple US citizens getting notices that they just leave the country because USCIS is revoking their humanitarian parole. www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

Some personal news: the Department of Homeland Security has given me, an immigration lawyer born in Newton, Massachusetts, seven days to leave the U.S. Does anyone know if you can get Italian citizenship through great-grandparents?

COMPARE: the results of fighting back to the results of not fighting back

🚨NEW: The NC Supreme Court's GOP majority will retroactively nullify 2,000 to 7,000 ballots from military and overseas voters unless they quickly prove their identity—but only those who voted in a few Democratic counties. Could overturn Justice Riggs' victory. appellate.nccourts.org/orders.php?t...

weird, what could explain this

Welp, got an answer to this question: Apparently the answer is no tariffs are being collected. Trump broke the system www.cnbc.com/2025/04/11/c...

That's insane. They don't have the money for it for that right now, that's for sure. $3.8 billion is more than the entire annual budget of ICE's Custody Operations.

NEW on @npr.org: A DOGE staffer working in the Social Security Administration has been pushing questionable claims about noncitizens voting — apparently using data that court records suggest DOGE shouldn't have. More on the claims and the latest in DOGE access concerns:

Ignore the picture of Jim Cramer here and note just how insane the media would have gone if Kamala had said "It could have been worse" after the stock market lost 5% of it's value in less than a month during the Biden presidency.

Look, even if you otherwise tolerate Jesse, I don’t see how you can consume this as anything but blatant bad faith, given his focus on trans-related issues. Plus, it’s a stupid and dishonest point, because “trans athletes” have been the bloody flag the GOP has waved to cause rage and fear.

Kseniia Petrova, a Harvard scientist who fled Russia after protesting its invasion of Ukraine, has been captive to the hard-line immigration policies of the Trump administration for nearly eight weeks. She fears arrest if she is deported.

The rule of law is under attack because our government wants to throw people in a foreign prison without any due process.

Just a reminder that Judge Xinis's original order requiring the government to bring Abrego Garcia back to the United States was in effect for more than 72 hours before it was administratively stayed by Chief Justice Roberts on Monday. What did the Justice Department ... do ... during that time?
