at my last barn, there were 2 icelandics who were well into their 30s. one has basically no teeth. the sound of gums squeaking is one of those those nails on chalkboard sounds for me.

We have 3 old retired studs, they are 23, 25 and 27 and the two retired mares are 22. It seems I run an old age horse home. 40+ ? That probably won't happen 😕

My TB was a feisty 37 when he passed and yeah, a bit of extra maintenance for the older fellows, but oh-so-worth it.

Let me put it this way, when Prophet was in his thirties and developing serious grey in his bay coat, several kids in the barn thought he was a young, black horse, just starting to turn white. That level of snort. :)
