You have a point. My point, difficult to explicate in a post, is that the Democrats talk (and usually believe in) traditional liberalism, but this clashes with their donors, whereas the Republican base creates no such conflict. Thus, the Democrats “tread lightly.” For “donors,” I used a class label.

I think it is important to highlight that the problem is not "we are afraid to anger the rich and are thus ineffective", the problem is actually "they are actively doing the bidding of the rich and occupying the for opposition so real opposition can't take root".

To become a real opposition, you’d need to reform the D party from within. Why no third party? Because viable political parties take decades to organize, and now there’s not enough climate, I mean time. If the R party collapsed, there might be an opening. Collapsing the D party means Nazis win.

At the risk of overdoing things, I will say that I used the term “liberal side” rather than Democrats because the people who vote D want a more liberal society, more protection of human rights, policies that help us, etc. The wealthy don’t widely share these desires.

That's been the problem since Reagan. Democrats learned the wrong lesson, and moved right. Clinton was basically a pre Reagan republican. They've repeated it ever since. Since Reagan, dems laid the groundwork of this failure, and it's all neoliberalism + donor appeasement.

Since Reagan, the rich got richer, the working people got poorer, and school got expensive, and federal dems did little about any of those. The reason Harris lost is because the dem base stayed home. She didn't talk about change, or the economy.Of the bottom half of the country and she lost.

I think it’s more complicated than that. Theirs is an ameliorative approach. The base is not right wing, and liberals need to win votes from that base. But at the same time, they need money to afford running for office. GOP, on the other hand, has little conflict between base and donors.
