Yes. Console quality gaming in a handheld. It mostly “just works” but can be a little fiddly with settings to get some games to run well. Sometimes there are weird bugs. The community is very helpful in that regard. Go in with proper expectations and you won’t be disappointed.
Just bought the OLED model and fully endorse it. Even works great as a remote play device if you have a PlayStation and cloud streaming with Xbox. Great with emulators too.
I got the OLED SteamDeck and it’s great. Decent battery life, a great screen, and less weight. I also find myself playing different games than I play on my desktop, and not out of necessity. I’m also blown away by the number of verified games as of late.
As pretty much everyone else has said it's great -- I am planning to spring for a bluetooth mouse and keyboard and stream Total War WH3 to my TV from the deck rather than upgrade my laptop to where it's playable
I love mine. Get the dock so you can hook it up to your TV, and it’s a great console. I find Xbox controllers pair quite well. Battery life is just so-so, but you can probably tweak settings.
Yeah I really like mine and you can get a refurb now for like $320, which is a very reasonable price point. Don’t spend more on internal storage, the SD card is basically as fast and cheaper/swapable.
Just got one after a long period of not gaming (since PS3) and it rules. As someone over 40, some games have too many buttons but that’s just the world we live in these days.
Absolutely. I love mine, ended up buying a second for my wife, and my 9 y/o plays on them with us fairly often too. Only bad part is that I spend way more on games now.

Supposedly the new OLED model has better batteries, too.
Plus the new OLED Deck is absolutely gorgeous.
The grips aren't amazingly comfortable for me, and it's VERY heavy for a handheld.
But I am really enjoying it. plus, functional laptop!
