i've had this sinus thing that comes and goes for about a month now. I have learned sinus pressure can absolutely make you feel like you need a major dental intervention even though you don't. pressure on nerves

It can work the other way too. Persistent sinus infection not clearing with antibiotics, ultimately due to a very slightly cracked, infected tooth. Good times.
Used to get that. I even visited the dentist, expecting the worst. After the hygienist was finished he looked around a bit and said, “nothing wrong with your teeth. Sinuses,” and set me on my way.
yup. bad ones happen to me once every couple years where i’ll have to get a z pack. broke my nose (apparently) as a kid somehow, so lots of scar tissue and stuff and highly prone. not fun
Had one so bad once I went to a dentist. He took X-rays and that’s when I found out one of my teeth has a long enough root that it extends into my sinus cavity.
I rinsed and repeated with that type of thing for a couple of years — then I went to an ENT and got “roto rooted”. This was over a decade ago. Best medical intervention I’ve ever had really.
It was in no way fake.
I had to have two root canals redone last year because (surprise!) a fourth root. (Apparently, my teeth failed to read the anatomy textbook.) Point being, the difference in my sinuses since has been beyond dramatic.
There are too many nerves jammed in our heads. It's all real.
I had this in Saint Louis due to constant allergies and sinus cavities that are a mess. Moving to Minnesota alleviated it mostly though I still get it from time to time. Unfortunately, other than ibuprofen I don't have any good answers for it.
There are some prescription ones that you can take longer--as always check with your doctor. But I used them with doctor's prescription for over 10 years.
Like phantom limb pain, it's 100% real, just wrongly interpreted. One time I winced in a coffee shop because I'd spilled hot coffee on my foot, and then I noticed that I hadn't spilled any coffee and also that foot wasn't there anymore. Bodies are deceitful.
This has been happening to me for a while now. I think it's partially barometric pressure, but I recently had some acupuncture and that seemed to shift things. Still there, but much less painful. Going to get another treatment soon.

He was the tersest dentist I’ve ever visited.
