eiichi kudo's 'yokohama bj blues', which i fear needs more study + explanation than i'd like to undertake, is fine as something of a noir. i'm familiar with matsuda, have few preconceived ideas to smash. i've little experience of the eighties output of japan. the plot may be familiar to some.
