I'm guessing that's comparing the two extreme ends of that data point? Any ideas how Salah's trend line compares for the average for PL forwards over the same duration? I'd imagine there's still a big gap.
I noticed a few years back any time Salah got a pen there was an enormous fuss created about him supposedly diving. Perhaps that subconsciously affected refs, who decided they should only award him the most blatant of fouls? Media power FTW.
It still happens BTW, he just gets less pens awarded!
Excellent image, really brings it home how weird it is that Salah can have defenders hanging off him and dragging him back every single game and its somehow just allowed.
It's like referees have just decided that Salah is a bit stronger and better than most, so common assault is a form of reasonable adjustment for opposition.
Is that the number of fouls against Salah, or the number of fouls against Salah that the ref actually blew his whistle for?
They're 2 very different numbers.
2019/20 Grealish is an extreme example, the most fouled player in the big leagues since 2016/17. However, when comparing Salah's fouls won to a comparable Liverpool player:

It's such an obvious outlier and yet if you mention it to anyone outside of Liverpool fans you're seen as a tin foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist.

Great work highlighting it. 👍
