Even if he drops off, it won’t be off a cliff and Saudi will always be there for him no matter what given his profile in the Muslim and Arab world so there’s basically a full proof fail safe if that happens. Sell him to Saudi in 2 years if he starts to dip. Win win.

No offence but Saudi doesn’t care about how Africa views him. Also, a lot of countries in Africa have massive Liverpool cohorts. He is very loved in many countries as well as the far east. He sold the second most shirts in the world behind Messi last year.

Mo Salah's current contract, with bonuses, pays him around £500,000 a week.

With his massive 26 million salary each year, once we remove him from the payroll (whether it's now or in a couple of years), it'll free up 80 million for transfers (spread out over 5 years) and 200k per week for wages.

He has definitely developed as a player and added new dimensions. Two factors that have regressed is tak e ons and speed. There are situations now where it would have been a one on one a couple of seasons ago, but the defenders are catching up more often.

Assuming that he's still happy with £350k a week (excl bonuses). It could be that he wants more, or higher bonuses. Don't forget that the £54m would be spread across the length of any replacement's contract. So is it £350k a week for 3 years or £175k for 6 (+, conservatively, £75k a week wages)?

I hope you don’t think I think salah dropped off last season btw. My point was he’s in the driving. To replace salah your paying for at least 2 players and one need to be a sure fire hit. Wages transfer agent fees will cost a lot then giving salah 2/3 more years and kicking this can down the street.
