If an insurance company stops writing business in an area with heavy claims it is because they cannot stay solvent

Does it really matter *why* these fires are happening? The circumstances are a done deal, the worsening for decades is a done deal, and the economics will not improve.

Why bother? Talking about climate change prevents people from understanding all the work that must be done to adapt fast. Throw climate change in and people either think it’s hopeless, pure ideology, or that we all just need to buy EVs. Wildfire prevention is practical and small steps.

The original federal flood insurance program was intended to be a one time buyout. But when disaster struck again, Congress always approved another payout. At a minimum, complete destruction of a community must trigger a payout without right to rebuild. Redesign with new resilient housing.
