What did The New York Times know and when did they know it?

Same, medieval dudes. Same.

I'm a lawyer and this is correct. Straight line of "blatantly illegal constitutional end-runs to violate human rights" from Iran–Contra to Gitmo to CECOT paved by the only consequences the perpetrators suffering being more money, more power, and more prestige.

No administration in American history, not Jackson w/ Indian removal, not Lincoln in Merryman, not FDR over the New Deal, not Truman in Youngstown, not Nixon over the tapes, not Bush with Guantanamo, has openly defied a court order like this, much less one unanimously endorsed by the Supreme Court.

Surprised no one offered up the arguments from Milton’s divorce tracts in the fight for gay marriage. The titles say divorce, but he argues that marriage is for love and companionship, not procreation, and that without love there is no marriage. These were strong influence on early feminists.

Simultaneously decimating the US federal government's state capacity and doing stuff like this does not strike me as a great move, so much so that I checked it was real (it is: economictimes.indiatimes.com/nri/latest-u...) - just reiterating that I now will not be recommending grad school in the US.

According to Trump’s doctor, his annual physical revealed a “benign colon polyp” which is one of the nicest things Lindsey Graham has ever been called.

a frequently useful guideline in 2025 is “if a billionaire says something that might have a reasonable interpretation you agree with, they don’t mean the reasonable version you’re thinking of”

The bipartisan belief that America would be a better place if *other people* worked in a factory. www.ft.com/content/8459...

there is simply no amount of child death that will move RFK to change his mind because he is a predatory narcissist who cares less about health than the gratification of his own ego

he picked the wrong enemy here. he can’t bully china into submission — they have the upper hand.

Trump and Republicans are wrecking the Social Security system so they can rob it. It's corruption and greed.

Okay but hear me out what you just didn’t create super intelligent AI that uses 99% of our electricity to replace us all before deciding humans are the real problem & hunting us down one by one to increase government efficiency? What if you just didn’t do that & we all went on with life?

I want an algorithm for social media that detects if I’ve seen a number of posts on the same subject and puts it on a temporary cooldown

I wish people would point out that this is what the Nazis did. The death camps were in occupied Poland, not Germany itself, because even under the Nazis German law was an impediment to the program of genocide.

Taurus: You'll never outlive your mistakes, so make them count.

this is the no fucking shit of all no fucking shits and yet barely anyone anywhere is saying it.

Yeah, clowning on Trump over his weight isn’t “good,” but he lies about it.

A frustrating article that, for all its length, omits: - kids’ perspectives - the Lost Girls generation www.theguardian.com/society/2020... - racial bias in diagnosis - medication shortages - overlap with autism & sensory processing - anxiety & depression as *consequences*, not comorbidities

The vast majority of them are absolutely underestimating how much of a constituency there is for “elect me and I will do everything in my power to see all these people face criminal prosecution”

This is so funny

After Trump destroyed the global monetary system, I lost my six figure job, and now I’m struggling to learn Mandarin so I can earn minimum wage making iPhones. But at least I don’t have to hear people give their pronouns anymore.

The anti-DEI trend is directly related to the incel phenomenon that I call the Mr. Collins issue. In Pride & Prejudice, Charlotte married Mr. Collins because she was going to be someone’s dependent no matter how she sliced things, and so marriage, even to an annoying toad, was her best option.

happy ten year anniversary to this post

"Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough." - FDR

I'm okay calling it the male mental health epidemic, but the "male loneliness" stuff sticks in my craw. The former acknowledges the men, specifically in gens z and alpha, are facing some hard-core issues. The latter lays the whole thing at the feet of women to fix.
