Everyone laughed at my suggestion that we should encode in law that the US will not suffer royalty to stand on our land, but I maintain it would be a good affectation to maintain.
Wondering if maybe having a four-or-five person executive council instead of a one person Presidency might be better in the long run for keeping monarchical pretences at bay.

What you need is a functioning legislative branch inhabited by members of good character, responsible to the people. The House and Senate can end this national dismantling at any time.
This was something I was constantly banging on about when I moved to the DC area. Everything is “prince George this” “king this or that” Hell KING street in Alexandria is the Main Street downtown. I thought the WHOLE POINT of these United States was we didn’t abide the monarchy!
my grandpa told me he was okay with trump ruling us like a king for 4 years and i felt a sort of anti-monarchical fury last felt in lexington in 1775 swell within me
I remember that clip where Anthony Bourdain was dining with some British dude, who held up a glass and said “To the Queen.” And Bourdain just stares at him for a moment and says “no”.
yeah like, "monarchs suck" is kind of THE thing we're all on the same page on, except for freaks like peter thiel who should be drawn and quartered in a public square for his trechary and treason
