BREAKING: Top Biden aides are conducting a vigorous internal debate whether to issue preemptive pardons to protect potential Trump targets from prosecution.

The list includes Fauci, Schiff and Cheney (who aren’t seeking pardons) and are worried that pardons imply guilt.

Trump is coming into office promising he will free all the January 6 convicts — people who committed actual crimes. There is no reason Biden shouldn't protect people who have done nothing but their Constitutionally sworn jobs as public servants.

If public figures all have pardons and he goes after the smaller fish instead, I worry the fascism will lurk beneath the surface and we won’t be ready to respond to it when it reaches us.

Like if he goes after Fauci or Smith, that will generate pushback. If he goes after you or me, it won’t.

In "more" normal times, a pardon could definitely imply guilt, but these are not normal times. With this wannabee authoritarian coming in, he may not be a successful dictator, but he could definitely ruin the lives of many people who did nothing to deserve punishment. I say do it.
