We have a mess of these in a collection pond at the steel mill in work at. They share it with blues, greens and an a nesting pair of bald eagles. Nature is funny!

We live on the shore of the SF Bay and our neighborhood is an estuary, so there’s herons, egrets, Canadian geese, pelicans.. pretty much every kind of bird that’s native to our area. In addition to being quiet and peaceful, it’s beautiful in so many ways. We are fortunate to be able to live here.

How cool! There was one year where we had a huge group of them nesting at Fish Lake, Utah - they didn't return which was disappointing, but made for a good year of bird watching ♡
