If anyone knows how a physician can find a job overseas please let me know. I am damn good at my job and I need to get out of this country. I’m not fluent in any other languages so I’m limited to English speaking countries

All I know about this is that you'll need to get a Personal Public Service (PPS) Number and that you need to get registered with the Irish Medical Council.
@gamermd.bsky.social lived and practiced there.
He could give you his perspective on this.
I found a locums site that specializes in international work, https://gmedical.com/.
Poking around on my own, most countries require passing a written board exam in the native language, which is limiting unless you have language skills.
We are desperately in need of more physicians in Canada, especially in the harder-to-live places like Saskatoon, where I am. The climate is harsh but the people will give you the shirt off their back. It's the birthplace of socialized medicine in this country. Good luck to you!
When I needed a doctor up here in BC a couple years back the shortage we had made it hard. So you could look at Canada if that's "Overseas" enough for you.
When I got a new doctor finally he kept me and my family for a year and then abandoned his patients to go into a private men's health clinic that only deals in circumcision and vasectomy.
Hi! Scottish obgyn here. Depending on your experience the RCOG MTI scheme is a great way into working in the UK. Although can only have 8yrs experience or less. If you are more qualified than that it’s a bit more complex.
Ahh, It would be hard to find an equivalent post here, we are crying out for middle grade doctors in the specialty but not so much at consultant level. You would likely need to initially work at a level below your experience. But if willing I can offer some tips.
I think licenses are transferable to NZ, Canada, Australia and similar and you typically apply via a process where you also apply for jobs and once you have a job immigration paperwork goes through
It is the most cumbersome process. Not centralized. I know Canada you apply to each province and you can only apply to one I think and for each province there’s different rules.
I'd be avoiding Alberta for a little while. As much as we need doctors, the provincial government here is going out of their way to fight docs on everything.
I’ve heard horror stories of how long it takes to obtain permission to practice in Canada. Think years. The UK is short on doctors because they all leave and go to Australia so that should be a clue.
I don’t know anything about their policies for doctors since I’m a tech guy, but I know Canada is super in need of more healthcare professionals right now
Panama is open to foreigners with at least a bachelors looking for residency. I know not english speaking but spanish is easier to learn than most think and english is commonly spoken as its taught in school starting young
Anyone know if any english speaking countries need civil engineers? Im about 2 years away from graduating and getting my ce and fe and hoping to get a jump on it
You can check Spain and Portugal. Maybe Germany. I don't know how long it takes on getting a work permit for you there as a doctor. It might be a process. But those are the most easy countries. English is generally not a problem I think.
Do you know the Gyn in New Zealand? She has a youtube channel. I can't think of her name. I will look. I think she made videos about moving to New Zealand. She is American. Have you looked at a list of English speaking countries? I think that would help focus where you go?
There is a doctor that moved to Australia permanently.
I follow him on twitter.
Let me look at my twitter.
He is an EM doc and wilderness rescue?
I can't recall what his title is but it is emergency and wilderness rescue...might be flight doctor too?!
The thing about what is happening… this effort is global. It will spread everywhere. These billionaires want it all. Wherever we go, they’ll be there too.
This is absolutely true. We are definitely dealing with it in Canada. It's farther along in some countries but ya, it's like a disease spreading. Somehow we have to fight it where we are.
The answer is dependent on the particular country. Luckily you probably classify as highly skilled labor for most of the best ones' fast track immigration. Shop around.
Check out the NHS over here in the UK, we are always looking for good doctors and it is NOT as bad as it is reported over there. Can't imagine why they would want to make a nationalised health service look bad.
Australia is in dire need of physicians (I mean really) so please consider! Skills are transferable and if you get in touch with a hospital is hiring they might be able to sponsor your visa and make it really easy
This might help.
Mama Doctor Jones /Danielle Jones MD has videos on YouTube where she has discussed how she moved her family from America to New Zealand including continuing being an Ob-Gyn there.
There is an oral board exam, A LOT of paperwork, visas, etc. in the process.
Sorry, but is a physician the same that a medical doctor? Here in Sweden, there is program who take medical doctors teaching them the language before coming to practice. I have a few friends who came to the country through this program...
No worries. I will come back to you when I will hear something from my friends. In the mean time, you can have a quick search in the net, as I believe that this is no an exclusivity of Sweden.
Here in North of Europe there is big need of medical doctors.
Good luck and all the best!
As much as I would love to say Singapore with their mostly relaxed abortion laws and their pretty libertarian trans laws I feel that it's a bit of a craphole if you can't stand the heat. And also Singapore apparently had trans rights guaranteed before LGB (they still aren't which concerns me)
Canada is always looking for physicians. The crossborder tax situation is challenging, though (been there, done that). Certification and licensure is often slow and frustrating. Australia/NZ historically were open to locum positions...not sure if that is still the case.
I cant help you there. But know this, you are among the final generation of educated women to come from the US. the writing is on the wall. women will not be allowed at universities or colleges.
Women should be afraid....very afraid
Oh wow, so you don't want to help POCs because in your privileged life you never took the time to learn an indigenous language. Typical white person. You are a racist POS, Who just wants to give medical help to white people. I hope you suffer wherever you go.
Um. So I have Black and Brown patients here in Oregon? I know some Spanish and I’ve taken Spanish classes as an adult but I’m not fluent enough to be sure I can adequately care for someone in Spanish?
