This was developed alongside another picture, THE WOLF MAN VS. DRACULA, which was going to feature Bela Lugosi returning to play the latter. It was supposed to be the sequel to HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, then HOUSE OF DRACULA would be the next one.

After several delays, THE WOLF MAN VS. DRACULA project was just abandoned in favor of this one, but HOUSE OF DRACULA created some continuity gaps by failing to adjust, before going into production, for the loss of that intended earlier picture.

The biggest one, of course, is how Larry Talbot, who was killed at the end of HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN, came to be alive in this one. He just shows up, no explanation. Because the explanation was in that movie that wasn't made.
