A pretty shameful oversight that at last night’s Walkley Awards there was no mention of the record numbers of journalists who have been murdered by the IDF over the past year.

That just dots the i`s and crosses the tees really. Walkley's just dont have any value any more if they included anything to do with Murdoch or any of the 'others' who deny being journalists & identify as entertainers. Maybe they should go to the logies instead? Its for journalistic excellence only
Par for the course because a record number of Australian journalists have just looked the other way. They've been remarkably silent about the loss of life among journalists covering Gaza and Lebanon.
Everything is f-cked atm. I'm a Labor member, sad at some of their decisions, or lack of them, but they are the only party that have the ability to handle internat relations, like the China/USA impending showdown.LNP are clueless. I would like a bigger group of Indies. Dutton terrifies me. In a funk.
Establishment orgs, bureaucracy, & politics in the nation are completely captured & subservient to the Zionist apartheid state Israel, so little surprise, the death of journalists is ignored. People are ignoring the genocide purposefully, it seems to me.
Complicity is total gaslighting is complete.
I noticed Ms Crabb this morning referring to Netanyahu as "Bibi." Maybe she intended to be facetious using his affectionate nickname, but it jarred with me.
That reference to Bibi jarred, to be sure. But as 'Netanyahu' is a self selected name meaning blessed by god (or similar) then I can also understand that one might want to refer to that person by some other name...
Meanwhile #Israel just targeted Hossam Shabat, injuring him. This 24yo has done more in 13 months than most Australian journalists nominated for a Walkely have done in their entire careers. THIS is why they want a social media ban.
The failure of the Australian media to acknowledge, let alone protest, the deliberate targeting of journalists by the IDF is a lot of shameful things, but it's no oversight.
Oversight? Doubt it … the coverage of Palestinian genocide to Israel hostage deaths and the lack of reporting on the murder of journalists pretty much sums up white Australia ally to Israel
You raise a very good point.
'Oversight' or more like quiescence due to bias or undue influence and perceived or real threat of some sort? (I'm asking rhetorically, of course).
Many journalists here act as if events elsewhere don’t count. Until a journalist elsewhere is heroic in a tabloid way they can grasp, so they can say, See, we’re like that too.
What does that tell you about the profession of journalism Palestinian journalists are risking their lives to to report and document a genocide This is real authentic journalism
Very predictable. Most Australian media repeat Israeli informed information from the Middle East, but not Palestinian or Middle East informed news. Excuses are made about verification difficulties. But it's all an more an extension of our racist colonialist past, in the present
A deliberate coverup. Imagine the outrage if 680 journalists had been killed during the Vietnam or Iraq wars. But then they would have been white Americans wouldn’t they? 😡
When journalists go on junkets to Israel, they often disregard any acknowledgment of their colleagues who lost their lives while doing the job they have neglected.
can never really wake up the sheepish until it is to late Greg I have been going on about Gaza since about 2013 2014 i do not see my standing ovastion coming anytime soons ure there are people who still wont listen to me I believe I am going to cut thrusting myself into the fold very soon
Indeed Greg.
But then they might have to admit their utter failure to report fully on what is happening in Palestine.

Shameful and predictable. The entire industry has shut the fuck about this barbarity and assault on the profession. They're too busy toasting their mediocrity to acknowledge the Palestinian journalists documenting their doom and then getting murdered by Israel.

And the DDR was no more.
We need to stand up to Israel and peacefully say fuck it.
And itself.
Sad that Mediawatch are the only ones mentioning it.
😔😔😔
Great questions.
Rarely at the ABC anymore either.

The Bibi thing is unprofessional, but the Khomeini thing is just incompetent.
I was going to suggest the same might benefit journalists.
But then recalled that too many would not dare open a book without the Israel lobby's permission.

Ignoring that elephant in the proverbial....
VERY
Disappointing huh?
What is it with legacy media? Totally out of touch.
Now the graveyard of the 4th estate
Legacy Media…
Didn’t want to upset the IDF.

It’s pretty hard to ignore.
Seems more likely to have been deliberate self censorship.
Stop killing journalists
Israel.
