Being a smug prick is an impediment to getting information across. Amy assumes people a) start with low information but b) are smart enough to pick it up as she goes along. Most press gallery assumes that the audience both c) can't get enough of the latest goss and d) is dumber than dirt

Amy's able to explain things coherently without dumbing down her information to us lesser likes. She offers scope for usto have our own opinion unlike other journos who ram theirs down our throats. I've long believed that smug pricks live in their own bubble but aren't sharp enough to burst it.
