This is the 6th election in a row where I've pretty much listened to every press conference and the questions being asked. And cripes some journos who have been there the entire time, really have not improved.

I remember my first/only time at a press conference. There were some pretty awful people among the reporters who imagined themselves to be penetratingly insightful provocateurs. (Gentle reader, they were all rather less in every way than they believed themselves to be.)
Itβs quite obvious they are getting questions fed to them on their phones
Itβs all about the gotcha question, daily occurrence during covid pressers and the 22 election
The standard of politics, and the reporting thereof, continue their trajectory down the waste water pipe. The question is, will they recover at some point, or just continue on their merry way?
and why would they? It's not like their editors/directors etc - many of whom were doing those jobs not long ago - would know what better sounds like. Or care if they did.
Sunday, clever doctor gets Speerβs stupid question and is flabbergasted π€― #insiders #bias #perplexing Doesnβt Speers know everyone especially the big parties spend $millions

Agreed Greg. In my 55 years of watching journalists interviewing and questioning politicians the last 10 or so years have shown the pathetic standard of MS journos in this country.
If asking the same questions already answered with the same half wit lies that are never challenged and allows you to keep your job, you keep your job.
I agree, the lack of interviewing skills is disgraceful, Their questions are pointless and based on a newspaper headline or maybe a brainwave that some one has had. Latika Bourke tries these convoluted meandering questions that don't elicit an answer. Where are the considered researched questions?
They won't. Media is now a profit driven endeavor that requires you say the same thing with different words but not anger the people with power otherwise you won't get those things to say. The majority of journalists with access are cowards because their bosses are cowards.
