Hearing that some staff are being told they are not allowed to attend this. Is there guidance for staff about what they are allowed to do on campus during a lunch break (not on the clock)?
If only they had a union to advocate for them and their rights.
I have no idea about that sort of guidance -- I'm guessing it's supervisor dependent, although it's possible that staff council might have something to say.
Is this event being (or is it expected to be) widely attended by students? If so, I could see that being a reason why staff would be advised not to attend.
Outright banning staff from attending seems a bit extreme ime—but then again, we live in interesting times, so my experience may not transfer.
