@nytimes.com is not my source for reviews on Rap or Kendrick Lamar.

“Ya’ll missed the point. Black men making up the American flag while he talks about the revolution and Samuel L Jackson in an Uncle Sam suit. It. Was. Fire. Thank you, Kendrick!

I don’t think the NYT should put bait headlines on here, then only allow you to read them if you are a paid subscriber. Not everyone (me) can afford to pay.
I can never read time articles because of the paywall, but something tells me in my heart of hearts that this supposed music critic completely missed the subtle tactics used by Kendrick last night.
It’s pretty surprising no one boycotted the Super Bowl over the fact that Trump was there and because the NFL took down the “End Racism” signs because they didn’t want to piss him off.
This article doesn’t include many pieces of symbolism in an artistic show full of meaning that was not centered on whiteness. Follow, listen or read some Black content creators to get additional perspective and get as the kids say “the lore”
It might be by popular demand, but it’s definitely because of what the song signifies.
It’s about who he sees as the antithesis of hip hop. It’s the first diss track to win a Grammy and it won five. He’ll beat it to death with good reason, regardless of how “overplayed” people say it is.

Shame on you times. So culturally unaware.
One of my favorite parts.
Simple. Black-on-Black hate. Is this School Daze in 2025? Just doing black separation for them in a song Knocking Down a black mega star.

That and the outcome he wanted the least.
