President Trump’s promise to impose 25% tariffs on Monday on all U.S. imports of steel and aluminum would primarily target American allies, but at their heart they strike at his longtime nemesis: China.

SO SAD MAGAts, TRUMPTARDS, REPUBLICANS, & CHRISTIAN NATIONALIST NOTZIS ARE SO RACIST POORLY EDUCATED EXTREMELY BRAINWASHED VERY IGNORANT ALWAYS MISINFORMED & ALWAYS FILLED WITH HATE!!! SO SAD!!!🥱
“Longtime nemesis?” His limiting of international aid just plays right into their hands. Who tf does he think will step in to fill the void in influence? Russia? What an ignoramus.
Why would you say China is his primary nemesis? Don’t both he and Ivanka do business there? China is his scapegoat. His nemesis is democracy around the world. Because he is a dictator wannabe.
He is a dictator full stop. He will never willingly leave the Whitehouse. There will be no more peaceful transfers of power. America lost its democracy on November 5th 2024.
I considered adding on “if the NYT can’t get the reporting right, we’re going to have to remove the word wannabe.” But I fear you’re right. They aren’t going to follow the judiciary rulings. Republican congress has abdicated its constitutional responsibilities. We’re fucked.
Donald Trump has good news for steel industry manufacturers and the American people: Our great America will be able to buy Steel and Aluminum at 25% more expensive prices.
I am afraid that the Trump global trade war would result in a world trade system that excludes America, which would in turn give rise to an international payment system outside USD. If it were the case, the dollar hegemony would be undermined--the real beginning of American decline. Worried.
Australia should respond to Trump’s tariff threat on steel & aluminium exports by threatening retaliatory restrictions on rare earth elements to any and all countries imposing high tariffs https://www.csiro.au/en/news/All/...
The top five suppliers of steel to the American market in January were Canada, followed by Brazil, Mexico, South Korea and Germany. Canada has also led in aluminum exports to the United States, while the United Arab Emirates, Russia and China are far behind.

Would like to see all countries affected, band together to sanction US trade until Trump is removed from office.

He spends the majority of his time talking down our allies.

These tariffs blow through our allies.
Canada and Mexico get hit for 20 times the amount of steel imports from the U.S.

I went through this to explain that he's not targeting China specifically like this article was saying.
He's hurting our trade relationships primarily with our allies, many of whom depend more than our adversary on U.S. steel.
