Phoenix hit a scorching 100 degrees Fahrenheit on Thursday, notching the city’s first triple-digit temperature of 2025 nearly a month before it typically reaches that high.

People need to be careful sitting under trees in that type of heat. The heat dries the branches & can make them brittle & snap with any wind. A young woman died in Adelaide, South Australia a couple of years ago sitting outside under the shade of a tree on a summer's day during her lunch break.
This is shaping up to be a really rough year for agriculture. ICE has impacted the workforce. Climate change is bringing new temperature extremes, and more severe storms. There will be power outages, floods, drought, and supply chain issues.
There will be food shortages. Plan ahead if you can.
But sure, global warming is a hoax. 🙃
It’s wild how far people will go to protect their feelings from facts.
When the truth threatens your identity, denial becomes a comfort drug.
It’s not science they’re rejecting, it’s the emotional discomfort of being wrong.
I am VERY VERY glad we just had our 12 yr old AC replaced.
Honestly, it's been getting progressively harder(& hotter) on the AC, esp on a one level home( living quarters are closer to roof). Not like 2 story wood frame with a walkable attic.
Easier on knees & spine but a price 🥵
nope-no longer is the latest info.
3 recharges @ $300+ NO more. Throwing $ anyway.
3 companies said same.
That was the old days. I'm 70, I remember when things lasted much longer.
Phoenix checking in. We're still alive and this is nothing compared to what it will be like during most of June, all of July, Aug & Sept, & most of Oct and Nov.
It's 83 here in my office, with no AC going. 6:30 pm
Imagine what August brings.
Yet most Arizonans are foolish republicans who believe:
-climate change is false,
-‘Is the will of God’ (anyone see God recently “,
-it’s a joke or fake news.
This summer expect days >120 deg F.
If power is lost, many deaths.
Water levels keep dropping.
👎😡
You would be wrong. So many people (including in my own family) in Phoenix think if the climate is warming it is a normal cycle that happens every so many 1000s of years.
Only never, ever has it happened in 20 years. It usually takes 100s of years to change this much.
THAT'S what the panic is about.
And nobody knows how much more it's going to change... so don't get too comfortable.
I know that and I have argued til I am blue in the face about it. I am from Phoenix and we moved to New England in part because of climate change. But I can't make other people believe it even as they can see it happen.
Luckily, the president and his pals have eliminated the phrase "cl1mat3 ch4ng3" from the language (see? I can't even type it!) which obviously means it doesn't exist, and this isn't really happening.
Well that deserves a follow.
Yeah, I'm afraid, from what I've seen re: Weather Channel predictions on national maps, that we'll have one more like summer before last, which was the worst since I've lived here.
Born here/still here, in my 40 years it hasn't been as bad as in recent years... keep cool, stay hydrated! I wish we could be a more nocturnal-oriented city during these hot days
I'm in my 60's, and I've been here nearly 15 years. I've got asthma, and the last couple of years has been worse. An article on El Paso Matters confirmed that. It said EP (and we're often in the same boat) had the worst air quality in Jan/Feb in 20 years - higher winds & extreme drought.
Phoenix native here. Multiple studies show, since the city of Phoenix is almost all blacktop and concrete, it forms a "heat island." The heat of the sun is captured and maintained overnight, so the next day is even hotter. Thunderstorms actually move around (avoid) Phoenix, making it even worse.
OK. I see DATA from NOAA that shows up to 8+ degrees difference between the two.
So 'record' temperatures in Phoenix do not represent either the local, regional or world climate as ambassador, is what public record data (and I think I hear lived experience) show.
Uh, the 100 degree threshold keeps coming earlier? Not sure anyone's panicking. Also, just FYI, the high temps in the summer break records every year. The highest temps were significantly lower in the summer in the 60's and 70's. Just getting hotter and hotter.
Lived in Phoenix 1982-87. Loved working in the desert all over the state, but hated Phoenix and the heat. We worked checking groundwater wells used for irrigation from early May thru September. These are 3' diameter wells with big electric or diesel pumps going full flow.
2022 came in at 1.2C, 2023 was 1.5C, 2024 was 1.6C, so far in 2025, 1.65C. Using PCC baseline for this, which we all should be using. Do not be surprised if we reach over 1.7C this year, looks like El Nino could arrive this summer!
Problem is when you use global “warming” and a place is colder than it should be, at a particular time of year. The deniers use that, as, where is this global “warming”
Are you beginning to understand the level of lies
about the climate that
are being spread to make you hate Trump,
to make you love radical Islam?
In short, to manipulate all your healthy values.
I live in Phoenix. I walked outside and thought holy crap. Interesting thing about Phoenix is there’s limited cloud cover so it’s sky and sun. This type of heat tho is main thing that keeps many people from relocating here. The good weather is amazing. But the bad weather is HOT !!!!
Holy shit. We r in for it this year. They have changed the zoning for planting in the US bc of increased temps. It 2.8F warmer here in upstate NY in the winter.
Another attack on global warming. As with all stupid maga. Old Heiny is an idiot when it comes to climate change. Old Heiny was told by his Orange Slug god to believe wind turbines cause cancer. And he does. No questions asked.Big surprise there. Good little Nazi F@CK. 🖕x 47
It’s fucking hot. Summer is going to be horrible. Can’t wait to pump out more coal and oil. Good news is we opened up more forests for logging, less leaves to rake = less wildfires right? DJT said so 🤷♂️
“Texas A&M atmospheric scientist Dr. Andrew Dessler analyzing the climate impact of the 2022 Hunga Tonga volcano eruption — widely thought to be responsible for the Earth's extreme warmth during the past two years — have determined the two-day underwater event actually cooled the climate.”
K. You were saying the heat we are experiencing, the point of this thread, is because of the volcanic eruption. That climate researcher says otherwise. But go ahead and move the goal posts to “water in the atmosphere”.

WHERE’S THE GLOBAL WARMING! said someone’s fence.
Make this shit way worse
NYTIMES sucks
There will be food shortages. Plan ahead if you can.
FEMA is dead.
Good that there’s no climate change and coal will fix everything
For the 3rd year in a row.
It’s wild how far people will go to protect their feelings from facts.

Ehhh, ok, but… in Australia… or South America… or India. And now in the US SW.
Nope. Not happening in my area so it’s a hoax/fake news.

They refuse to believe New England could have Phoenix summers soon.

WTH is hysterical reporting about?
i know the idea was to wait years to see how it averages out, but the temps are just not going down
1.5 is dead

Don't call it "global warming," call it what it is, "climate change."

A lot of Americans will die this year.
Dementia Don can no longer apply logic.
Fueled by anger, delusion and hallucinations he continue to make poor ill informed decisions.
Goddamn it’s not just CLIMATE CHANGE!!! Weather does weird shit EVERY YEAR.
The entire planet is still dealing with effects from the Tonga eruption.
So that’s all YOU need.
Water vapor provides fuel for wind, obviously snow and rain, and heat. It’s all connected.
Do some research about it other than what one person says.
