I wish I could help but sometimes you don't know till they drop an egg or crow. Our silkie rooster was an overachiever so he crowed early or we wouldn't have known till about six months of age.
Same. One of our brahmas did that a few years ago. We already had a rooster and we had to re-home him. He passed away defending his flock but if you were a person he'd let you hold him and carry him around and always wanted cuddles.
Coming back to say we found out after the head rooster mounted him. His tail feathers weren't really screaming out rooster. He squawked, ran into the chicken coop with the hens and finally crowed. 😬😂
Our head rooster was good natured and let him go instead of trying to chase him or fight.
