there are so many things WOTC could have done to protect Nile that were not "capitulate to bigotry and rip the rug out from under her." they could have disabled comments. they could have deleted the specific offenders. they could have ignored them entirely. they could have ASKED NILE WHAT SHE WANTED

You are spot on with this statement. There is a tremendous presence of LGBQT people within this community and WotC absolutely let them down in this scenario. Hugely disappointing and something that they need to be better about in the future.

1) the bigots will be mad whether or not the ad gets pulled
2) pulling the ad will upset the minority (here, trans/queer people)
all they’ve done is made two groups of people mad at them instead of one
