I would say that's probably accurate! It's a painting of Portia, wife of roman politician Marcus Brutus. She wounded her thigh to prove to her husband that she could withstand pain and difficulty so he would trust her with his plans to assassinate Julius Caesar

Hi Jameela! Gentileschi’s Judith decapitating Holofernes is a ferocious masterpiece that reflects the brutality she suffered at the hands of men. As stunning as Caravaggio version and she is up there among the Italian greats. Best wishes, Craig in Scotland

Vigée Le Brun's self-portrait with her daughter at the Louvre rocked me when I realized: It's just Élisabeth and her daughter, an infinite reflection of love from mother to child, no one else exists in the world of that painting, Élisabeth was subject and artist, it was just for the two of them.

There is a wonderful self portrait of Mme Vigée-LeBrun and her young daughter in the 18th Century French Gallery at the Louvre. The daughter is smiling and happy, Mother is beautiful and proud. It is wonderful. I visit it every time I’m in Paris.

This was painted when she was younger the style of her dress is very french & the chapeaux definitely one of Marie's rural affectations she does have the look of a shepherdess but it's a tribute to Rubens lady in a straw hat although she corrected the misnomer.

It’s beautiful. I wonder when this was painted? She fled to England during the Revolution. Having been Marie-Antoinette’s favorite made it dangerous for her to stay in France. Here is the self portrait with her daughter.
