But that doesn’t mean Democrats in DC are powerless. They can create lots of friction and sparks. That, alone, would not force Musk and his deputy, Donald Trump, to stop ransacking the federal government. But it could help change public opinion about what Musk and Trump are doing. 2/10

Here's what I mean: Dems must take a page from the civil rights movement of the 50s and 60s. Black leaders and their allies had little formal power but had tons of moral power. MLK Jr. called it “soul force." And they used it in acts of creative nonviolence that transformed their movement. 3/10

Marches, sit-ins, and boycotts sparked massive overreaction by the Bull Connors, Ross Barnetts, and George Wallaces of the South. Their use of arrests, beatings, dogs, and firehoses transfixed the media and much of the nation. And they turned public opinion in favor of civil rights. 4/10
