It's an absolutely insane plan in the noble UK tradition of wasting 1000s of millions on totally unworkable projects, white elephants, and pointless infrastructure, while allowing everything else to rot...

Anyone with half a brain who knows anything at all about CCS said at the time of this announcement that the government was investing in a wholly unproven and speculative technology – that just happens to be promoted by the fossil fuel industry.
