Note that Earth's polar circumference is 20km / 6400km = 0.3% out of spherical tolerance due to Earth's oblateness. The equatorial circumference is better, but not a factor of ten better, due to mountains and oceans and such. The five-digit "finest engines" approximation is good enough for geodesy.
